Pastor Eric Fields
I am humbled that you would desire to know a little more about me as pastor of First Baptist Clovis, and at the same time I am encouraged because you feel it important. Let me state clearly that anything I am or will ever be is due solely to the grace of God in Jesus Christ given to me freely by grace through faith.
I was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky where I met my beautiful wife Kristi with whom I have four children. Louisville was home to me for my first 39 years. During that time I earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Louisville, and then earned a Master of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville. After graduating from Seminary, I pastored a church in the South end of Louisville for nearly 7 years, enjoying ministry in an urban setting and witnessing God do some great things.
My family and I moved to Clovis, New Mexico in February of 2009 upon my being called as the Teaching Elder/Pastor of First Baptist. We are amazed at the community of faith God has brought us into and look forward to watching Him continue to shape a people by His grace and for His glory for many years to come.
As a pastor, my heart is to see people experience the joy that is found only in God’s presence. I believe this is done as they are transformed by the power of the gospel and given new affections for God Himself through the atoning sacrifice of Christ. As the apostle Peter wrote, “For Christ died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, in order that He might bring us to God…”
My hobbies include playing guitar, reading, mountain-bike riding, listening to music, and Denver Broncos football. My favorite authors are John Piper, John Owen, John Stott, (must be something about the name ‘John’) Arthur Pink, and D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones.
Student Minister - Daniel Gleaton
I truly love what I do! God has allowed me the opportunity to work with students and their families and watch the gospel impact our lives for his glory.
I was called to be the Student Minister of FBC in 2008 and have been working with students for over a decade. I grew up in Clovis, graduated here (go Cats!), was gone for a while, but soon retuned to the Land of Enchantment! I’m in love with my beautiful wife Stacy and our two daughters Farren and Kinley.
What else do I like? Chips and salsa, Pastor Mark Driscoll, being outside, movies, 80s hair bands, fishing, my family, Chap Clark
Pastor of Worship & Families - Steve R. Sims
It is a wonderful honor and privilege for me to serve as pastor of worship and families for First Baptist Church. It is my joy to lead the local body of Christ in fervent worship of Him through music.
Prior to coming to Clovis, I served four years in a similar capacity for a church in Amarillo, TX. While in Amarillo I met my beautiful wife, Carrie, with whom I have two wonderful children. The Lord has taught me tremendous things through my wife and family and the congregations I have served.
I received my Bachelor Degree in music education from Oklahoma Baptist University and later earned a Master of Church Music degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. My interests, as varied and random as they might be, include my family, landscaping, following commercial aviation, composing/arranging music, collecting old hymnals, watching college sports, and being outside.
